HR, A Tool To Pressurize Independent States: Educationist

Islamabad, Dec 2, IRNA – Pakistani educationist on Saturday said that the concept of human rights has become a tool to pressurize independent states like Iran. Talking to IRNA, Syed Qandil Abbas, Assistant Professor of International Relations at Quaid-e-Azam University criticized western backed UN General Assembly resolution to condemn Iranian human rights status. “This resolution is politically motivated and Zionist regime is behind the act,” he added. The analyst expressing his views said that the recent UN resolution was just a photocopy of the previously adopted resolutions against Iran with minor changes, whereas the reality is quiet opposite. “Why they are not taking any actions against the human rights violations committed by Zionist regime in Palestine,” asked Dr. Abbas. He added that why there is discrimination in the implementation of the HR resolutions against Zionists. The educationist went on to say that western media is doing a negative propaganda against Iran. The analyst said that discriminatory resolutions of UN on human rights have lost credibility. Syed Qandil Abbas said that Islamic definition of human rights is different from the western definition of human rights. “Immoral practices cannot be allowed in Muslim societies under the pretext of human rights,” he pointed out. The educationist was of the opinion that western states have also wrongly used the notion of freedom of expression against Muslims. He said that United Nations must adopt a resolution against the human rights abuses in Iraq and Afghanistan by the western forces. “The ‘human rights’ is a very useful concept and its proper implementation could change the societies effectively,” opined the analyst. Syed Qandil Abbas asked western states to stop using the notion of human rights as a propaganda tool against Muslims. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast in reaction to the approval of the resolution has said, 'Western states use human rights as a tool for political games against the independent states; Tehran based on its constitution, its holy religion, as well as its great history, supports the human right ideals.'/end
