Human rights not a Western, charity issue: official

Tehran, Dec 16, IRNA – Secretary of Iran's Human Rights Commission Mohammad Javad Larijani said Monday that human rights is not a Western or charity issue, but is the inalienable right of all human beings. Addressing an international confab on negative impacts of economic and financial sanctions on human rights, Larijani said that all the human beings across the globe are entitled to the human rights including economic and financial rights and that creating obstacles in the way of the inalienable rights runs counter to the International Law. Larijani said that the current global conflicts have jeopardized the basic human rights. Elaborating on the democratic rights of the human beings, Larijani said that every individual has the right to vote to elect their own governments and determine their own fate. Larijani said that God has given the human beings the free economic and financial rights, so that the western governments violate the human rights principles by imposing sanctions for political objectives./end
