Hundreds Of Reporters Covering Significant Political Gathering In Iran History

Tehran, Aug 30, IRNA – Hundreds of domestic and foreign reporters, journalists, correspondents and photojournalists are giving coverage to most important and the largest political gathering in the Iranian history, namely the Non-Aligned Movement Summit. The 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit is one of the most important political events in 2012 and has attracted the attention of outstanding political and press and media figures and organizations worldwide. Nearly 1,000 media and press people are covering the event. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is to officially inaugurate the NAM Summit meeting shortly. Some 120 world countries are members of the Non-Aligned Movement comprising virtually 55 percent of the world population. The meeting opened on Sunday with the two-day experts gathering and then the foreign ministerial meeting. The event will on Thursday enter its final and most important phase by the meeting of heads of states of NAM member states. The presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the opening of the meeting indicates the prime importance Iran attaches to the movement. It also proves that the Islamic Republic is firmly determined to take the first step during its three-year presidency over the organization./end
