IAEA Boss Amano, Merely A US Puppet: German MP

Berlin, March 18, IRNA – The head of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano is nothing more than a ’’US puppet’’ when it comes to dealing with the Iranian nuclear issue, said a German lawmaker of the opposition party The Left (Die Linke). Addressing an international conference in Berlin on the regional implications of the 2003 Iraq war, the deputy head of The Left parliamentary faction Jan van Aken reiterated it was the US ˈpulling Amano’s stringsˈ on Iran’s nuclear program. I think even the German government is aware that Amano is a ˈUS puppetˈ when it comes to Iran, the radical leftist legislator added. The member of the foreign affairs committee of the German parliament has repeatedly lashed out at the UN nuclear watchdogˈs handling of the Iran nuclear dossier since Amano became its director. According to van Aken, the IAEA under Amanoˈs leadership was ˈin factˈ no longer neutral and was ˈwillinglyˈ taking part in western anti-Iranian propaganda. He had also lambasted Amano for relying solely on western secret service information in his assessment of Iranˈs nuclear program, branding it ˈfatal.ˈ This information by the intelligence agencies can only be included in the IAEA Iran report, if it is verified by the UN agency, otherwise it cannot be used, said van Aken who was a UN biological weapons inspector from 2003 through 2006./end
