IAEA Chief Meets With Pakistanˈs Adviser

Islamabad, March 11, IRNA - Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano has called on Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the prime minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs at Islamabad. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and various issues related to cooperation between Pakistan and IAEA were discussed. Amano appreciated Pakistan’s safe and secure operations of nuclear power plants. The adviser welcomed the positive role played by the agency in development of peaceful uses of nuclear technology in Pakistan. It was decided to further strengthen efforts to increase technical cooperation to Pakistan. Pakistan has a very productive and mutually beneficial relationship with the IAEA. Pakistan is already one of the top recipients of IAEA technical cooperation. As a member of the IAEA Board of Governors, Pakistan is also contributing to the agency’s decision making./end
