IAEA Inspectors Confer With AEOI Officials

Tehran, Dec 7, IRNA – Visiting inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) met with officials of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on Saturday. Two IAEA inspectors arrived in the Iranian capital this morning to visit Arak heavy water facility. The visit is to take place on Sunday and in line with a previous joint statement made by head of the AEOI Ali AKabar Salehi and the IAEA’s Director General Yukiya Amano during the latter’s visit to Tehran on November 11. Based on the six-article statement, the two have agreed that inspectors of the UN nuclear watchdog inspect Arak heavy water facility, in central Iran, as well as the Gachin mine in Bandar Abbas, the southern province of Hormuzgan. In order to remove ambiguities and prove the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, the AEOI has, in a good-will gesture, permitted IAEA to inspect Arak facilitiy.
