IAEA Inspectors To Visit Iran

Vienna, Jan 15, IRNA - - International Atomic Energy Agency officials and inspectors will pay a visit to Iran by the end of January. Tehran has invited the IAEA Deputy Director General for Safeguards Herman Nackaerts to travel to Iran before the last IAEA governing council meeting. But the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, who is now in the US, opposed Iran visit of Nackaerts and indicated that his deputy’s visit must not happen before delivering his report about Iran’s nuclear activities. Amano says he has proposed his deputy’s visit to Tehran during the governing council meeting and after his last report about Iran while Deputy President and the Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili has previously proposed the visit one month earlier./end
