IAEO Chief Says He Is In Vienna To End Iran Nuclear Case

Vienna, Sept 17, IRNA – Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Ali-Akbar Salehi said here Monday that he came to Vienna to end Iran’s nuclear case. Salehi is in Vienna to attend the annual meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He made the remarks in an address to the IAEA’s 57th General Conference which started in the Austrian capital on Monday. The appointment of the IAEA Director General for the second term; nuclear security; promotion of the agencys technical cooperation, nuclear science, technology and applications, and strengthening the effectiveness of the safeguards system as well as the applications of the Model Additional Protocol are top on the agenda of the meeting. Salehi, former foreign minister, is accompanied by the countrys new representative to the IAEA Reza Najafi. Salehi said he attended the meeting with a message of President Hassan Rohani to boost Iran’s cooperation with the agency and to put an end to the country’s nuclear case at the IAEA. Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting, Salehi voiced Tehran’s readiness to promote its cooperation with the IAEA. Referring to President Rohani’s remarks saying he believed in a win-win game in the nuclear issue, Salehi expressed optimism over resolving the case. Salehi also met with the IAEA’s Director General Yukiya Amano on the sidelines of the agency’s 57th annual meeting and discussed the next round of Iran-IAEA talks to be held in Vienna on September 27. At the end of his meeting, Salehi expressed hope that the next round of Iran-IAEA talks would be a beginning to solve the remaining issues between the two./end
