Indian Apex Muslim Body Demands OIC To Take Steps To Stop Bloodshed In Muslim Countries

New Delhi, Feb 3, IRNA – India’s apex Muslim body, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Sunday demanded Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take measures to stop bloodshed in Muslims countries. JIH President Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari said: “Syria has been thrown in the hell of political, social and economic destruction. Iraq and Afghanistan have been made to be victims of the scourge of bloodshed and destruction. Algeria, Tunis and some other Muslim countries are also witnessing instability and conflicts”. In these trying moments it is the duty of every sincere Muslim and every person who values democracy and peace to do his bit to improve the situation, said Umari while addressing the press conference held at Jamaat’s headquarters here today. Referring to Egypt, he said that Egypt’s first democratic government has been overthrown through military force and military dictatorship has been imposed. The largest and most organized party Muslim Brotherhood has been declared to be a terrorist organization and banned. It is being subjected to all sorts of atrocities. The number of its adherents who have been killed runs in thousands. The military government has prepared its own constitution which has been imposed after a questionable referendum. It appears that all preparations have been made for permanent imposition of a system which is worse and more atrocious than that of Hosni Mubarak, added Jalaluddin. Over Bangladesh’s troubling situation Maulana Umari said, “in our neighboring country Bangladesh, the elections were organized in spite of boycott by opposition parties and now it is witnessing a dangerous confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties which has badly affected the social and economic set up of the country. JIH President demanded the OIC in this troublesome situation to organize the Muslim countries and take concrete measures to stop bloodshed and restore peace./end
