Indian Leader Denounces Sanctions Against Iran

New Delhi, March 16, IRNA – Denouncing the sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic of Iran, an Indian leader Thursday slammed the US on pressurizing Iran to halt its civilian nuclear activities. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed, MLA of Delhi Assembly said: “Unilateral sanctions, although could not hamper Iran’s pace of progress, were unjustified and has no legal basis.” Maintaining that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful in nature, he said that no evidence is found that the country has nuclear weapons program. Mateen noted that Iran, being a responsible country, has fulfilled international obligations and cooperating with the IAEA to resolve the dispute. He further noted that despite Iran’s cooperation with the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the US pressure and the imposition of sanctions against the country, has no legal basis and is irrational. Condemning the hostile attitude of the Western governments against Iran, the Indian leader said that the US and its allies have no other aim except attaining supremacy and political hegemony in the region. And to achieve the aims they can do anything, because they recognize no moral values. They are adept in blaming the countries, butchering people, destroying social values to redefine morality to pursue their own ends. Mateen Ahmed advised the Obama administration to recognize Iran’s nuclear rights and adopt policies which could lead in restoring stability throughout the region and the world./end
