Indian Parliament Mourns Deaths In Iran Quake

New Delhi, Aug 15, IRNA – The Upper House of India’s Parliament, Rajya Sabha Tuesday mourned the death of 250 people in last week's devastating twin earthquakes in north western Iran. When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned the two powerful earthquakes on August 11 killing at least 250 people and leaving several others injured. The quakes caused extensive damage to housing, properties and infrastructure and destroyed several villages, he said. He deeply condoled the losses 'suffered by friendly people of Iran'. People of India, he said, stand by Iranians in their hour of grief. The House observed silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls before resuming normal business./end
