Indian Politician Asks West To Acknowledge Iran’s Initiatives

New Delhi, Sept 28, IRNA – Appreciating Iran’s efforts to promote sustainable global peace, an Indian politician on Saturday asked the West to acknowledge President Hassan Rohani’s proposal, “highly significant” in nature, on annihilation of WMDs. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Asif Mohd Khan, MLA of Delhi Assembly said: “Rohani’s proposal to UN for the annihilation of nuclear weapons and other WMDs in a time-bound framework is evident that the Iranian government has always strived hard to save humanity from these anti-human weapons”. He noted that Rohani has thrown the ball in West’s court to prove their credibility on the elimination of these weapons of mass destruction without any discrimination. Asif stressed that West should also pressurize Israel to join the NPT and legally bound it to destroy its chemical weapons. He further noted that world countries have wasted massive resources in an arms race that could have used for developments and the elimination of poverty across the globe. But, still there is an opportunity, the international community unitedly should work for a peaceful and economically prosperous world. “This is what the people expect from their respective governments and is also the essence of Rohani’s proposal,” he added. Expressing concern over the volatile situation of the region in particular and the world in general, the Indian politician urged the West to take Iran’s initiatives seriously, review their policies and make the mandatory changes, based on justice and in-discrimination, to save humanity from further destruction. Asif maintained that Rohani’s proposal has proved that Iran has never had any nuclear weapons ambitions. It has a peaceful, and legal, enrichment program under the guidelines of NPT, which is its inalienable right. Turning to the telephone conversation between the US President Barak Obama and Rohani, he said, “Undoubtedly that is a great move./end
