Indian Scholar Hails Iran’s Defense Developments

New Delhi, Aug 26, IRNA – An Indian academician Saturday hailed Iran’s defense developments, terming it vital for the country’s preparedness against the enemies. Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on August 21 unveiled six major defense industry achievements on the occasion of the national Defense Industry Day. Talking to IRNA, Professor Basir Ahmed Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in New Delhi said: “Iran’s achievements are most praiseworthy as the country, despite facing stern sanctions, is enhancing its defense capabilities”. He noted that Iran is facing the sanctions from the very beginning of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini (R.A.) and the establishment of the Islamic Government. But, despite sanctions, the pace of progress and developments in every sector continues, which is evident that the tool of sanction is nullified in front of Iran’s commitments. And that should be the lesson for the regional countries dependent on the West, he advised. Basir, who is also the former Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Hamdard University, further noted that the resistance power, hard work and commitments had boomerang the sanctions on the face of the Western countries. “Seeing Iran’s self reliance in every sector, Western countries, especially the US should gracefully accept the defeat,” he suggested. Slamming the US and Israel, mustering international backing for a military strike on Iran, Indian scholar warned that the Persian Gulf nation, with growing military power and advancement, had capabilities to respond in strongest term. He expressed his confidence that Iran is now capable to compete with the US and Israel. Basir also urged the other Islamic countries of the region, instead envying, copy Iran in making them self reliant and stop depending on the US and its allies. Iran’s defense achievements, unveiled by the President recently, included an enhanced version of fourth generation of Fateh 1D-110 missile, Armita flying laboratory, Bonyan 4 marine engine, Aras tactical vehicle, Vafa mortar launcher as well as Shahed tapping and positioning system./end
