Indiana Senate recognizes Khojaly genocide

Washington, March 4 (AzerTAc). The Senate of Indiana, the United States, has adopted a resolution recognizing the Khojaly tragedy as genocide. The resolution says that on the night of 25-26 February 1992, Armenian armed forces occupied the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly massacring more than 600 innocent people, including women and children. It says that although UN General Assembly and Security Council adopted resolutions demanding liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani territories, Yerevan has not yet executed them. Copies of the resolution will be forwarded to the US President, Senate, House of Representatives, Department of State, and the U.S. Embassy in Baku. Indiana is the 15th US State to recognize Khojaly genocide. Last year saw the senates of Texas, New Mexico, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania adopt resolutions on the Khojaly genocide.
