Indonesia To Hold Walk To Remenber On AAC's 60Th Year

Jakarta, Dec 31 (Antara) - The Indonesian government will hold a walk-to-remember event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) in Bandung, West Java, in April 2015. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs AM Fachir said during a gathering at the Nusantara Building of the Foreign Affairs Ministry here on Wednesday that the AAC`s 60th anniversary will be one of the main international events to be organized by the Indonesian government in 2015. "We are going to try and make this commemoration more than just a ceremonial event. We will conduct various events on the occasion that will see leaders from all AAC countries coming to Jakarta and Bandung," he added. Fachir also mentioned that the independence of Palestine will be one of the main issues that will be discussed. "The conference is into its 60th year and there is still a member, Palestine, who has not got complete independence as a state," he emphasized. The Indonesian government, Fachir said, also regretted the failure of the UN General Assembly in New York, the US, on Tuesday local time, in recognizing Palestine as a state for lack of support. "If only we got just one more vote from the assembly," he added. Hence, the commemoration of the 60th AAC next year will bring the issue of Palestine`s independence as one of its main agenda. Moreover, President Joko Widodo has committed in his administrative agenda for international relationships that he will support and endorse the full independence of Palestine.
