Indonesia, Malaysia To Hold Boundary Meeting

Nunukan, N Kalimantan, Nov 18 (Antara) - Indonesian and Malaysian army officials will hold a meeting to discuss boundary issues concerning both countries in Tawau, Sabah State, Malaysia, on November 20-23, 2014. According to Chief of 0911/Nunukan Military Command Lieutenant Colonel Putra Widiastawa, several officers of the Indonesian and Malaysian Military will attend the Unit Commander Meeting (UCM) to discuss various border issues. "The meeting is part of the mission of the Indonesian Army unit, including 433/Julu Siri Airborne Battalion Infantry Boundary Security Task Force and 0911/Nunukan Military Command, which guard the border area," Putra affirmed here on Monday evening (Nov. 17). During the meeting, some officers will discuss the land demarcation line between the two countries including the ongoing settlement process to resolve the border dispute, remarked the chief. Putra stated that during the meeting, the Indonesian and Malaysian Army officials will also discuss about future programs to settle the land demarcation dispute. The UCM can be mutually beneficial for both countries, but it depends on the future leadership of the two nations, he remarked. The chief noted that the meeting will also discuss the issue of illegal Indonesian immigrants in Tenom Keningau of Sabah State, Malaysia. The UCM will also discuss the recent issue of an alleged Malaysian claim to three villages in Lumbis Ogong Sub-district of Nunukan District.
