Indonesia - S.Korea Relationship Meaningful And Sentimental : Diplomat

JAKARTA, Sept 15 (Antara) - Former Deputy Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal said the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Korea is meaningful, involved and sentimental. "Being strategic partners means we feel your pain and you feel ours, and your success is our success. Our futures are bound together. Our relationship is not just formal or official but deep and involved. It is a meaningful and sentimental relationship," Djalal stated during his opening remarks at an event titled, `Comprehensive Partnership' between two Middle Powers and Current Developments on the Korean Peninsula, in the Korean Cultural Center, Jakarta, on Wednesday. Djalal, who is a former Ambassador to the US, lauded Indonesia and South Korea as two `Middle Power' countries that can build a regional architecture to achieve prosperity and stability. Additionally, the South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia, Cho Tae-Yong, observed that he appreciates Indonesia's stance of urging North Korea to comply with the UN Security Council Resolution on nuclear weaponry. "As a member of the United Nations, Indonesia is faithfully implementing the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council. When North Korea launched missiles and went ahead with nuclear tests, Indonesia issued a strong statement, condemning North Korea and we appreciate that," he told ANTARA after the dialogue. Earlier, North Korea conducted a fifth nuclear test on Friday (Sep 9), setting off a blast that was more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Meanwhile, Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry has declared that the nuclear test launched by North Korea was in contradiction of the spirit of achieving both regional and global peace and stability.
