Tehran, Nov 20, IRNA – International Conference on Auto Industry will be represented by 20 countries despite sanctions imposed by the western governments, the US automakers are better not to miss the opportunity, the secretary of the confab said on Tuesday. Talking to representatives of foreign media in Iran, Sasan Qorbani said that the event is considered a big chance for exploring capacities of Iranian market and the auto industry. He said that the main objective of the conference is to introduce capacities of Iranian market for car manufacturers, adding that in view of Iranian young population, it has an attractive market for producing and supplying automobiles. Meanwhile, Iran enjoys a high potential for free trade with all the Middle East markets. Participating countries include France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Britain, China, India, Czech Republic, South Korea, Spain, Egypt, Switzerland and Denmark, he said. Sanctions have left adverse impact on the trend of auto production, Qorbani said, noting that they have affected the Iranian partners much more than Iran itself. Most of the sanctions against Iran’s auto industry are unjustifiable because they are quite distinct from nuclear activities, he said, some 80 percent of the activities of the auto sector are carried out by the private sector. The event will seek to create an opportunity for the Iranian automakers and their foreign counterparts to discuss ways for developing cooperation, Qorbani said. Iran produces 1.6 million automobiles annually and is among the top five countries in terms of manufacturing spare parts, he noted. International Conference on Auto Industry will be held at Milad Tower International Conferences Center on November 30./end
