Intelligence Ministry releases new details on media people linked to BBC

TEHRAN,Feb.20(MNA) – In a statement issued on Tuesday, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry released fresh details on arrested media people who had links with the BBC. It followed two previous statements by the Ministry on January 30 and February 5 giving some details about the arrests. The statement said that a number of other people having links with the BBC have been summoned and interrogated. It added that a number of people who had links with the network but were unaware about the intent and malicious purposes of the network, were briefed and received explanations. The Ministry expressed delight over the cooperation and understanding of most of the arrestees during the investigation and said that three people arrested before have been released on bail. The statement also said that according to the obtained information, the BBC was running a number of counter-revolutionary media outlets, such as radiofarda, VOA, and kaleme and rahesabz websites. The BBC could manage to penetrate into a number of local media, give directions, and gather information via them, the statement added. The statement added that the intelligence agents ensure that the propaganda by Westerners will not have the slightest influence on their mission.
