Intensive N-talks ongoing: Iranian FM spokeswoman

TEHRAN, Mar. 04 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, while pointing to the latest developments in nuclear talks, said negotiations are underway intensively. Touching upon the fresh round of talks over Iran’s nuclear program, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said in a weekly press conference on Wednesday that Iran reiterated its demand in the negotiations that the Western sanctions against the country needed to be lifted. She reiterated that lifting sanctions is the top priority of Iran’s negotiating team during the intensive nuclear negotiations currently underway in Switzerland. She highlighted that Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and must enjoy its rights under the accord, including peaceful nuclear activity. Afkham noted the agreement would be made only in one-phase and issues including enrichment and lifting sanctions are being debated during the talks with 5+1. “Iran wants a swift and all-out removing of all sanctions which has always been clearly and directly discussed during the negotiations by the Iranian side,” Afkham underlined. Pointing to the exchange of views and talks between Iran and world six powers on the legal and technical aspects, Afkham said Iran has always made clear that no agreement is made, unless all aspects are agreed on and this would be a one-phase agreement in which all details are included. Elsewhere in her remarks, she pointed to the Iraqi army’s battle against terrorists, saying Iran “as a neighboring country has acted responsibly” and offered advisory assistance to the Iraqi government to help it fight terrorists. On Yemen's issue, she dismissed foreign interference, saying that the only way to resolve the country's problem is through political solutions and a democratic solution through Yemeni sides negotiating with each other. She underscored that regional countries should stop interfering in Yemen’s internal affairs and only support the negotiating sides and not further complicate the conditions which would pave the way for further threats.
