Interim Gaza Ceasefire Result Of High Turnout In Quds Day Rallies: MP

Tehran, July 27, IRNA – Interim Gaza ceasefire is the result of high turnout of people in Quds Day rallies, a parliamentarian said on Saturday. Rapporteur of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis Hossein Naqavi Hosseini made the remarks while talking to IRNA. He noted that spread of protests against the Zionist regime especially the high turnout in the Quds Day rallies in Iran and other states forced Zionist leaders and their western allies to accept the 12-hour interim ceasefire. Referring to the Resistance Movementˈs military capabilities, the MP underscored that Resistanceˈs missiles also played a major role in forcing occupation forces to accept the ceasefire. The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel have agreed to a 12-hour truce brokered by the United Nations. On Friday, the two sides accepted to implement the ceasefire which will begin at 7:00 a.m. (0400 GMT) Saturday. The temporary truce would reportedly allow the delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip. Hamas has already said that any lasting ceasefire with Tel Aviv includes lifting of the Gaza siege along with the release of Palestinian prisoners. Gaza has been blockaded since June 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standards of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty./end
