Intl. section of Fajr Film Festival kicks off

TEHRAN, Apr. 26 (MNA) – The international section of the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) was inaugurated in a special ceremony in Tehran on Saturday. In the ceremony held today in Tehran to inaugurate the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival, Alireza Rezadad, the director of the festival, welcomed the distinguished guests, including the ambassadors and film makers from different countries. The festival was inaugurated in the presence of many prominent cultural figures, including Hojjatollah Ayyoubi, the Head of Iranˈs Cinema Organization. Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the annual cinematic event hosts competitions usually in two main sections of ‘Iranian Cinema’ and ‘International Section’ in February to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution but this year for the first time the International section is held in April, separating the two sections. Established in 1982, the festival will also host the 18th International Iranian Film Market (IFM) while a large number of reputed Iranian and international film distributors and buyers are slated to flock to the event.
