Iranˈs Presence In Geneva Meet On Int'l Health, Remarkable : Official

Tehran, June 10, IRNA – The deputy health minister for international affairs on Sunday described Iranˈs presence in an international health conference in Geneva as remarkable. The 66th meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) General Assembly was held from May 20-28 with participation of representatives from 193 countries. Executive Council of WHO also held a meeting from May 29-30. Mohammad-Hossein Niknam said that during General Assembly meeting, attended by delegations and health ministers from member states, health-related problems across the world as well as financial and managerial issues of the organization were discussed. According to him, the health minister in his address at the meeting slammed the Westˈs sanctions on Iran as against development goals of nations across the world. On the sidelines of the meeting, Niknam held separate talks with the health ministers of Egypt, Afghanistan, Iraq, Germany, Switzerland and Ala Alwan, WHO regional director for the eastern Mediterranean./end
