Iran’s air defense unveils radar systems

TEHRAN, Sept.2 (MNA) – Commander of Iran’s Air Defense in his press conference announced four radar systems will be added to Iran’s military equipment. Amir Farzad Esmaeili, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Headquarters, in today’s press conference stated that “Iran’s air defense has covered 3600 spots to protect the country’s achievements such as hundreds of refineries, power plants and nuclear facilities, and we are planning to increase the number to 5000 to include radar, missile and monitoring.” “Four radar systems will be added to Iran’s air defense,” said Esmaeili. He stressed on localizing military equipment and stated: “Our air defense systems are at the forefront of our air strikes, and if they are not localized but purchased from abroad, the enemy will attack us with equipment that would take us off-guard. Therefore, localization of air defense is a top priority.” “The first system is Keyhan Radar with a long range and hybrid frequencies capable of discovering micro air vehicles and cruise missiles,” said he and that “the superiority of this model to the previous one (Shahab Radar) is that it is tactical and mobile.” “Controlling the battle field from distances far from the stationed systems is of great importance," the commander asserted. “Therefore, the Hadi plan has been announced which covers radar and missile data transfer, electronic surveillance and controls from a distance in safe and secure centers or in the tunnels.” “Arash II Radar is our latest product to be unveiled in this section,” he maintained. “In the past, Arash I Radar was designed and produced by Iran’s army, but needed to be upgraded to be capable of quickly discovering micro air vehicles; Arash II Radar facilitates the air defense greatly and is compatible with the world’s modern technology.” Esmaeili pointed to Talash III as Iran’s latest achievement in missile technology and explained that “Talash I and II were designed and unveiled in 2012 and 2013 with a short and medium range capability; Talash III which is a combination of S200 and localized technology, has been designed and produced in 2014.”
