Iran’s Civil Rights Charter Ready: Vice-President

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – The government has prepared the blueprint of civil rights charter pledged by President Hassan Rouhani during his presidential campaign, Vice-President for Legal Affairs Elham Aminzadeh said on Wednesday. Hamidzadeh’s comments comes as President Rouhani is scheduled to give a report to the Iranian nation on the government’s performance in a televised speech tonight 100 days after his inauguration. Aminzadeh told IRNA that the civil rights charter was drafted in cooperation with some 200 academics and legal and political elites. The charter is based on Islamic teachings and certain cultural and indigenous factors, the vice-president said. She added that Iran has taken into consideration all its records of civil rights as well as civil rights documents of other countries in preparing the new charter. Observers believe that putting into practice the civil rights charter will help the government to ensure the Constitutional rights of the people are respected./end
