Iran’s Defense Doctrine Rejects Non-peaceful Use Of N-technology: Majlis Vice-Speaker

Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA – Majlis First Vice Speaker Seyyed Mohammad-Hassan Abutorabi-fard says that nuclear weapons and non-peaceful use of nuclear technology have no place in Iran’s defense doctrine. According to a report by Majlis News and Mass Media Bureau, he added in a meeting with the head of assembly of representatives from Asian parliaments for environment and development, Liju Yang, he referred to Iran’s hosting of Asian Parliaments Conference on Environment next year. Iran attaches special significance to protecting environment at the legislative and executive levels, he said, noting it will do its best to organize the event in the best possible manner. Recalling the history of Iran-South Korea ties, he described South Korea as a friend of Iran. “Iranians have had a positive attitude towards friendly ties with South Korea, which help promote bilateral ties in different political, parliamentary, economic, cultural and industrial fields,” he said. Highlighting Asian continent’s position in today’s world, Abutorabi-fard further noted that the continent with a population comprising cultural, and economic elites plays a crucial role in the progress of today’s world. “Iran and South Korea are the two top powers in Asia,” he said, underlining their numerous capacities for developing ties in different arenas. Liju, for his part, referred to Iran as a country with rich culture and civilization and said that promoting bilateral ties with Iran is of high importance to South Korea. “South Korea can use all its capacities for enhancing economic and commercial ties with Iran,” he said. Praising Iran’s logical approach towards nuclear issue, he hoped that the upcoming talks between Iran and 5+1 Group will produce positive results./end
