Iran’s Navy Will Have Extensive Presence In Free Waters Next Year: Commander

Tehran, March 11, IRNA – Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said here on Saturday that the naval forces will have an extensive presence in free waters in the next Iranian calendar year (to start March 20). Talking to IRNA, he added, “Iran does not seek any conflict with others but since free waters belong to all countries and based on international law they can use them, we will also attend the free waters.” Referring to the successful presence of the Army’s naval fleets in free waters including Oman Sea and Red Sea, he also pointed out that the Navy will certainly continue its strong presence in the waters. He also hailed the capabilities of the force under his command and said that any equipment needed by the army can be produced inside the country. “Today, Iran's Navy enjoys high status in the region and its policies are different from those of the arrogant powers’ military forces,” he said. The Navy has the infrastructure to build vessels it needs for the time being, he said, noting that the grounds are prepared for designing and building destroyers. Jamaran destroyer is a manifestation of the capabilities of the Iranian Navy which passed the tests in free waters successfully, Sayyari said./end
