Iran’s nuclear issue could be resolved through dialogue: former Austrian official

TEHRAN, June 11 (MNA) – A former member of the Austrian parliament said that Iran’s nuclear issue could be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. Werner Fasslabend, the former third president of the Austrian National Assembly, made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran on Sunday. Fasslabend expressed hope that Iran’s nuclear issue would be resolved through building mutual trust in order to promote the interests of the two sides. The Iranian foreign minister also said that he is hopeful that progress would be made in the process of negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) at the next round of talks scheduled to be held in Moscow on June 18 and 19. He added that Iran’s principled policy is to meet its international commitments, comply with international regulations, and pursue its inalienable right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. On the relations between Iran and Europe, Salehi said that Iran and European countries, including Austria, share many common interests which could be promoted through increasing their cooperation, adding that the Islamic Republic is a reliable trade partner for the European Union.
