Iran’s Right To Peaceful Nuclear Energy Must Be Recognized : Pakistani Politician

Islamabad, Jan 23, IRNA – Former Pakistani minister on Tuesday said that Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy should be accepted. Talking to IRNA, Tariq Azeem Khan, senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N said that US should quit the policy of double standards towards Iran. “Natural justice demands equal treatment to all countries,” he said. Former Senator was of the opinion that Iran and 5+1 group must continue their talks because dialogue is the only way to solve disputes. He said that all the major issues have been settled through talks. “The policy of coercion has always produced adverse results,” he warned. Former Senator opined that western countries have to shun their arrogant behavior towards Iran. The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program. Iran argues that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. Tariq Azeem Khan said that it is Iran’s right to develop nuclear program for peaceful proposes and nobody can deny that. He said that US has to leave the policy of double standards. “There should be equal standards for all countries on acquisition of nuclear energy,” he said. He went on to say there is no justification of pressure on Iran regarding uranium enrichment because the country has repeatedly assured the world that they are not after nuclear weapons. The political leader appreciated Iranian government for taking a strong position over its peaceful nuclear program despite sanctions. “Sanctions are counter productive and have made Iran stronger”, he said. Former Senator expressing his views said that there are many non-Muslim states in the world which are supporting the Iranian stance over peaceful nuclear program./end
