Iran Advises Manama Govt To Go Ahead With National Reconciliation

Tehran, Oct 16, IRNA – Iran on Monday advised Bahraini government to go ahead with national reconciliation rather than adopting security strategy to deal with public protests. Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned Bahraini officials against opting for security strategy instead of going ahead with national reconciliation. "If Bahrain opts for any other way to deal with the crisis other than giving way to public partnership and gives preference to security rather than national reconciliation, the responsibility of regional consequences, will lie with Manama government." He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help resolve Bahraini crisis following talks between Bahraini King and Iranian foreign minister on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Mecca. He added that Iran has had a series of contacts with different related parties, including regional states, but for unknown reasons, the Bahraini party did not show any seriousness and the efforts were hence stopped. He added however that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to play a positive role in this regard./end
