Iran advises regional countries to extricate themselves from U.S.-Israeli trap

TEHRAN,Aug.14(MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani advised certain regional countries to extricate themselves from the trap set by the United States and the Zionist regime with the aim of serving their own interests. “The Islamic Republic once again warns regional countries to stop making mischievous moves and playing a role in the plot of the United States and the Zionist regime because such moves will be recorded in the historical memory of the people of the region,” Larijani stated during an open session of the Majlis on Monday in reference to the Syrian crisis. “Certain regional countries have fallen deep into the trap of the interests of the United States and the Zionist regime due to their flawed analysis (of the situation on the ground) and their false assumptions, and it would be better if they extricate themselves (from it) as soon as possible,” he added. Commenting on certain officials’ claims that Iran has military presence in Syria, Larijani said, “They should not be seeking false pretexts… Iran does not have military (presence in Syria) and does not regard it as expedient.” Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian Majlis speaker commented on the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, which ended on August 14, 2006, and congratulated Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah on the anniversary of Hezbollah’s victory in the war. “Almost to the day, the Zionist regime (suffered) an ignominious defeat and was practically turned into a political corpse in the Middle East,” he added. The pain caused by the “hard slap” that the Zionist regime received during the war led it to experience internal problems, he stated. Larijani also said that the recent developments in the Muslim world have provided good opportunities for the Muslims.
