Iran Attaches Special Significance To Co-op With Muslim States: Minister

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – Minister of Sciences, Research and Technology Reza Faraji-Dana said on Tuesday that cooperation with Islamic countries is of special significance to the Iranian diplomacy. In a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart, Gusti Muhammad Hatta, he recalled Iranian universities and research centersˈ achievements. He voiced his countryˈs readiness to make the results of researches conducted by the Iranian scientists available to other countries, the Muslim countries, in particular. Faraji-Dana called for cooperation among the scientific, research and technological centers of the two countries. Referring to the arbitrary sanctions imposed on Iran by western governments, he further noted, ˈIn the wake of sanctions, we managed to promote our knowledge and technology to suitable levels.ˈ As to ways to enhance level of scientific and technological ties between the two countries, he said that cooperation in holding exhibitions, exchange of students and professors, sharing scientific and technological achievements are among the avenues for deepening scientific and technological relations. Gusti Hatta, for his part, referred to the two countriesˈ commonalities, stressing the need to promote scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries. ˈIran was one of the four active international partners of Indonesia in the past four years,ˈ he said. Indonesian minister hoped that the ground for cooperation between the two countriesˈ researchers would be prepared by setting up a joint research consortium. In the meantime, the two ministers signed a 16-article memorandum of understanding to encourage scientific researches and promote effective cooperation to contribute to the two countries social and economic growth./end
