Iran-Azerbaijan Commonalities Pave Suitable Way To Boost Ties: Envoy

Tehran, Nov 21, IRNA – Azerbaijan Republic Ambassador to Iran Javanshir Akhundov said here on Tuesday that historical and cultural commonalities of the two nations can serve as a suitable ground for promoting cultural, political and economic ties. According to a report by Majlis Mass Media Bureau, he made the remarks in a meeting with the head of Iran-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group and other members of the group. Referring to the common historical and cultural background of the two nations, he noted that cooperation between the two countries will help deepen friendly bonds. Development of Iran-Azerbaijan railway and setting up a free trade zone will help boost economic and commercial exchanges, he said. Head of Iran-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Mehdi Sanaei, for his part, underlined the existing capacities of the two states and said that the group welcomes any move to help increase commercial exchanges. Describing development of bilateral ties as a means to strengthen bilateral and regional relationships, he further added that the enemies should not be allowed to harm bilateral ties through propaganda./end
