Iran-Azeri FMs Discuss Bilateral, Regional Issues

Tehran, Oct 16, IRNA – The Iranian and Azeri foreign ministers discussed bilateral and regional issues in Baku on Monday. Ali Akbar Salehi, who is in Baku to attend the Economic Cooperation Organization Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mamedyarov also underlined the need for upgrading mutual cooperation within the frameworks of joint economic cooperation commission as well as border and consular committees. The two sides emphasized continued diplomatic consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers and settlement of border issues by the joint border committees. They said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Baku to attend the ECO Summit shows Iran’s good will for expansion of bilateral relations. They also emphasized the need for countering Islamphobia and insult to Holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him)./end
