Iran, Bangladesh call for expansion of ties

Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in a meeting with outgoing Bangladeshi Ambassador to Tehran Sattar Khendokar reiterated that innovation can help the two countries promote their bilateral ties. 'Innovation and finding new eras can play an important role in the expansion of economic ties between the two countries,' Sarmadi said. The deputy foreign minister pointed to the efforts which have taken place to boost bilateral relations in different areas, and said, 'Holding another meeting of Iran-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission in Tehran will help to finding a better framework for trade and economic cooperation and holding rotational political consulting meetings by the two countries at the level of deputy foreign ministers will help to depicting a suitable roadmap of bilateral ties, specially in fighting different forms of terrorism.' The Bangladeshi envoy, for his part, pointed to the Mina tragic incident, and condoled the Iranian government and nation on the sad occasion. He also briefed Sarmadi about his activities during his mission to Iran, and said, 'In the new era we will try to bring the two countries' economic relation a favorable level.' The Bangladeshi ambassador also expressed the hope that during the upcoming visits of senior Bangladeshi officials to Tehran and signing important documents at the joint commission, the two countries could witness further expansion of mutual cooperation.
