Iran to buy Thai rice

BANGKOK, Oct 9 (TNA) - Visiting Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday told Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha that his country wants to buy Thai rice, according to a Thai government spokesman. President Rouhani is attending the second Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit being held in Bangkok and held bilateral talks with Gen. Prayut at the Government House. Praising Thai agricultural goods, fruits and processed food of high quality, the president said Iran wants to buy more Thai rice in accordance to a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries earlier. Iranian officials are inspecting Thai rice quality and the inspection is now almost completed. Government spokesman said President Rouhini also accepted Gen. Prayut’s request on energy cooperation within the framework of the MoU on petroleum. (TNA)
