Iran calls for reopening of Rafah border crossing

TEHRAN,July 26(MNA) – Iran has sent its first aid shipment to the Egyptian capital Cairo to be delivered to the Gaza people, though Rafah, the Gaza-Egypt border, has been closed. “Following the president’s order to send food and medical aid to the Gaza people, who are besieged [by Israel] and are under savage, merciless, and relentless attacks by the Zionist regime, the first aid shipment by the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cairo has been dispatched and is waiting to be delivered to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing along with Egypt and the Gaza Strip,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Thursday. She also expressed hope that the Rafah border would be opened as soon as possible, and with the delivery of humanitarian aid of different countries, pain and suffering of the oppressed people of Gaza would be relieved to some extent.
