Iran to change policy if threats continue: Shamkhani

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (MNA) – Iran’s Shamkhani received visiting Belgian FM in Tehran on Monday, and voiced Iran’s concerns over security issues of the region. ‘The Iran-sextet accord of July 14 dawned a new age of Iran-Europe relations, in which those who were not aligned with US-led anti-Iran sanctions are treated favorably,’ said Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani in his meeting with visiting Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders on Monday in Tehran. The Iranian security official considered the bilateral commitment to timely obliging of the JCPOA as a test for the will of both Iran and 5+1 group of countries to cooperate and warned that if the war mongering rhetoric of some countries is continued, the Islamic Republic of Iran would take a different policy. 'The refugees crisis is a harsh consequence of unleashing terrorism and Europeans are seriously responsible for the current condition,’ affirmed Shamkhani touching upon the displacement of millions of Iraqi and Syrian civilians after the brutal behavior of the ISIL in the two countries. He stressed on global impacts of terrorism, extremism, and violence and called for a unanimous international measure against the terrorist in Syria, Iraq and Yemen. ‘Without cutting aiding hands who provide terrorists with arms, money, and human resources, the war on terror is a campaign for unachievable objectives’ reassured the Iranian admiral. Shamkhani criticized westerners for their double standard approach to human rights and pointed that ‘thousands of Iranian police forces have been martyred to stop cultivation and transit of illicit drug and opium and some countries blame Iran for punishing the smugglers and drug dealers.’ On Tehran-Brussels relations, he voiced hope that the expansion of ties in realms of economy, trade, technology, politics and science would lead to better yielding of potentials and opening of new opportunities. Belgian Foreign Minister Reynders, for his part, reassured that Belgium has always been trying for bolstering bilateral ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and voiced hope that the removal of anti-Iran sanctions would lead a boom of relations between the two countries. He also affirmed that his country is aware of the dangers of terrorism and is determined to contribute to the unanimous international campaign against terrorism. The Belgian foreign minister, Didier Reynders, arrived in Tehran on Sunday, and before meeting with Shamkhani was received by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and, later, Foreign Minister Zarif.
