Iran-China Call For Close Co-op In Upcoming N-talks In Geneva

Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA – Iran and China on Sunday called for close cooperation in the course of nuclear talks due to be held in Geneva on November 20-22. Director-General for Political and International Department of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Hamid Baeedinejad and Chinese ambassador to Iran Shen Shiaouin, in a meeting on Sunday underlined need for close cooperation in the next round of nuclear talks due to open in Geneva on Wednesday. Baeedinejad who is also a member of Iran’s negotiating team with Group 5+1 said Iran is determined to defend its inalienable right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. Baeedinejad had held a meeting with Russian ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan on the same issue yesterday. Iran and the sextet (the US, Britain, France, Russia, China plus Germany), during their last talks on November 7-9 agreed to resume negotiations on November 20 in Geneva once again. Both sides are trying to reach a road-map to defuse the decade-old stand-off over Iran’s nuclear program through mutual confidence-building measures./end
