Iran-China Share Extensive Common Interests: Official

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA -- Iran and China as the two influential and developing states boast of extensive common interests in defending regional and international secuirty, said Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo. According to a report by Majlis’ News and Mass Media Department, Wu Bangguo arrived in Tehran Sunday at the invitation of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani. Upon arrival at Mehrabad Airport, he added that Iran and China are the two ancient and civilized countries. He further pointed out that China is willing to promote exchanges and cooperation with Iran in all fields through joint efforts. Since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 1971, the two countries’ ties have always experienced a positive trend despite the complicated situation in the world. Friendly cooperation with Iran in all fields has developed, bringing benefits for both nations, he noted. The Chinese official also declared that he expects to exchange views on regional and international issues with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and other Iranian officials.
