Iran chosen head of ACU

Kish, Dec 8, IRNA - Associate Professor of Shahid Beheshti University Dr Seyed Jalil Hosseini was chosen as chairman of Asian Congress of Urology (ACU). The presidency of the congress changes once a year and this is the first time an Iranian has been chosen. The 12th edition of ACU is currently being held in Iran’s Kish Island, Dec. 5-9. On the sideline of the event, Hosseini said: “Iran is hosting the 2014 ACU, the last congress of the series which have been held every other year in one of the Asian countries. As of 2015, it is going to be organized annually and every year a new chairman will be introduced.” “Iran’s high scientific level in the field of urology, its distinguished specialists and the country’s security were the main factors for having chosen Iran as the head of the congress”, Hosseini added. Over 2,000 Iranian and foreign physicians are taking part in the 12th congress. The previous editions of the congress have been held in Japan, Taiwan and India and this is the first time that a Middle Eastern country is hosting a major medical event. Medical experts from 26 countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, US, Britain, Italy, japan, Hong Kong, turkey, Austria, South Korea, Qatar and UAE are attending the event./end
