Iran combat power at service of regional defense: Commander

Jask, Dec 31, IRNA – Commander of Navy Force Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said that neighboring countries should know that Iranˈs combat power is aimed at ensuring regional defense. Referring to the Navy maneuver underway in the Persian Gulf codenamed ˈMohammad (PBUH) Messenger of Godˈ, the commander added that the wargame displayed combat readiness and missile defense systems of the Navy. Iranˈs Navy might is aimed at defending the territorial waters and the countryˈs interests and resources on free waters, he said. ˈIf the enemies intend to infiltrate into territorial waters, they will be confronted with full combat power,ˈ Sayyari said. ˈWe and other regional states can ensure regionˈs security without any need for other trans-regional forces,ˈ he said. The Navy maneuver launched on December 25 in an area extending from east Nurmoz Strait to north of Indian Ocean will end on December 31./end
