Iran Condemns Desecration of Prophetˈs (PBUH) Disciple

Ahvaz, May 5, IRNA – Iran on Saturday expressed outrage at the desecration of Islamic sanctities by terrorist groups in Syria. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast condemned desecration of sanctities and exhuming of Prophet Mohammadˈs disciple, Hojr ibn Uday, by the Wahhabi terrorist groups in Syria. Such an act reveals the depth of sedition the Zionits regime designs for the region, he added. Mehmanparast further noted that those behind the acts intend to create and widen rifts among the Shia and Sunni Muslims. International community should adopt a stance vis-à-vis the inhuman acts conducted in line with the Zionist regimeˈs goals, he said. He said that all the international bodies and Muslim nations should show reaction towards the sedition. All regional statesˈ officials should do their best to establish peace and security in Syria, Mehmanparast said, adding that the best way to get out of the Syrian crisis is dialog and respecting the nationˈs votes. Mehmanparast is in Khuzestan province on a two-day visit to deliver lectures on Iranˈs foreign policy and regional developments to the academic community and officials of the province. Hojr ibn Uday was also one of the commanders of Imam Aliˈs (AS) army in Seffain and Nahrawan wars. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March, 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against the Syrian police, border guards, statesmen, army and the civilians. Thousands of people have been killed since terrorist and armed groups turned protest rallies into armed clashes. The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, saying that the bloodshed is being orchestrated from abroad./end
