Iran condemns killing of Muslims in Nigeria's Kano

Tehran, Nov 15, IRNA – Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry has denounced the Nigerian police forces' attack on the Muslims' peaceful gathering in Kano, in northwest of Nigeria, in which a number of people were killed. Bahram Qasemi described the measure as a 'worrisome and unacceptable action'. He further condemned repetition of such actions to kill Muslims at a peaceful religious gathering which had caused no threat and aggression. Qasemi also called on the Nigerian officials to take serious measures to avoid repeating such crimes. The number of people who were killed by the Nigerian police in Kano has reached 48. The victims were mourning for Arbaeen, the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Shia Muslims. Arbaeen mourning ceremony falls on November 20 this year. 1378/IRNA
