Iran Condemns Terrorist Attacks In Tatarstan

Tehran, July 21, IRNA – Spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast Saturday condemned the terrorist attacks against Tatarstan’s mufti Ildis Faizov and his deputy Valiulla Yakupov on July 19 calling it an act against humanity. Faizov was hospitalized after three powerful blasts hit his car in Tatarstan’s capital, Kazan, on Thursday. A little earlier Yakupov was shot dead outside his home. The attacks evoked the deadly violence that plagues mainly Muslim regions of the North Caucasus, where Russian forces have fought rebels in two devastating wars since the 1991 Soviet collapse where militants want to carve out an Islamic state. Mehmanparast expressed hope that all governments and followers of divine religions would start a “serious and continuous fight against the vicious act of terrorism worldwide in order to create a safe world.” Reports said that both Faizov and Yakupov were anti-extremism activists and the attacks could be made for the same reason. The Republic of Tatarstan locates in Russia’s Volga district with a population of 3,800,000./end
