Iran Critical Of US Sanctions Says, There Is No Need For Immediate Direct Talks

Tehran, March 6, IRNA -- Iran critical of US sanctions said on Tuesday that there is no need for immediate direct talks with Washington. The US sanctions transgressed boundaries of the international law and Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said however that the Supreme Leader has already made certain requirements for initiating direct talks with Washington. Mehmanparast told reporters that the US is one the G5+1 members and a party to nuclear talks adding that the ground for direct talks has not been prepared yet. The US change of approach toward Iran issues would create suitable ground for Iran to study possibility of direct talks, he said. ˈIf Washington comes to meet the requirements defined by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian officials will study possible direct talks,ˈ Mehmanparast said. On the support made by the US senate for Israel, he said the Zionists are concerned about waves of Islamic Awakening in the region and try to suppress it through various means, he said. The spokesman made it clear that Iran is observing the US deeds prior making any decision. On the Syrian developments, he said it seems foreign powers have got to understand that non-political approach could not bear fruit which is a positive step so that they must resort to political means to end the crisis./end
