Iran Defense Min. Opens Mass Production Line Of Anti-aircraft System

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA – Minister of Defense Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Sunday inaugurated mass production line of anti-aircraft system in the country. The minister told reporters that the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently witnessing another aerospace achievement. Vahidi said the domestic anti-aircraft system is capable of automatically detecting the targets in the air, tracking them down and destroying them. The short-range system can effectively accomplish its mission, said the minister. On Mersad medium-range system, Vahidi said it is a modern ground-to-air missile system that can act against Cruise missiles and unmanned planes. Mersad missile system successfully accomplished its mission during the recent military drills conducted in eastern Iran, Vahidi added./end
