Iran Denies Sending Troops To Syria

Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Saturday that Iran has never sent any military forces to Syria and has no plan to do so in the future. Vahidi made the remarks in response to allegations made on presence of Iranian military forces in Syria. The Westˈs support for terrorist groups in Syria has no justification, Vahidi said. Iranˈs humanitarian and peaceful policies helped bolster peace and tranquility in the region without which the supporters of terrorist groups in Syria had created s sea of blood in the country, he said. The supporters of Syrian terrorist groups have already committed crimes and atrocities in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon in addition to backing the policies of the Zionist regime, he said, adding that they seek to spread violence across the Middle East. Iran believes that Syrian crisis should be resolved by adopting a principled and sound policy without needing to dispatch military forces to that country, he said. The enemies of Syria have been defeated by the unified stands taken by the Syrian people, government and army, he said. They seek to justify their defeats through releasing fabricated news to mislead world public opinion and undermine the triumph of the Syrian nation, government and army, he said. The West and the US in particular seek to pursue warmongering policies in the region to revive their ailing economy through sale of arms, he said. Western countries that have done in connection with the development as well as economic and industrial infrastructures of Syria try to save their ailing economy through destruction of Syrian economy like what they did in Iraq and Afghanistan, Vahidi said. ˈWe strongly warn them to change their hostile approach as patience of the people in the region is limited,ˈ he said./end
