Iran, Denmark Discuss Enhancement Of All-out Ties

Mashhad, Sept 8, IRNA – Iranian and Danish foreign ministers in a meeting here on Sunday voiced enthusiasm for widening and deepening of Tehran-Copenhagen relations in all areas. Mohammad Javad Zarif and Martin Lidegaard vowed to do their best to coordinate both sides' efforts aimed at strengthening of cooperation. 'Iran and Denmark have high potentials for expansion of relations and they can cooperate with each other in different areas,' Zarif said. 'Iran and the European Union can have useful dialogues despite the two sides' differences on some areas of the Human Rights. The Danish foreign minister, for his part, pointed to the status quo of Tehran-Copenhagen relations, and said, 'The relations between Iran and Denmark should be further expanded in different fields due to Iran's important status in the region and the world.' Lidegaard pointed to Iran's conspicuous role in the region, and said, 'Denmark is concerned about the spread of extremism and terrorism in the Middle East and Copenhagen reiterates on the need for continuation of consultations with Tehran.' The top Danish diplomat arrived in Tehran on Sunday to discuss regional developments and expansion of ties with senior Iranian officials. Lidegaard is the first Danish foreign minister who has traveled to Iran since 2005. Several European countries have sought seriously to expand ties with Iran after Tehran and the six major world powers cut an interim deal over the country's nuclear program in Geneva on November 24, 2013./END
