Iran Deplores Extremism, Religious Conflicts Posing Threat To Region, Muslim World

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that spread of extremism and religious conflicts threaten the entire region as well as the Muslim World. He made the remarks in separate meetings with grand Ulema in the city of Najaf. In separate meetings, Zarif conferred with Ayatollah Sistani, Ayatollah Hakim, Ayatollah Fayyaz and Ayatollah Bashir Najafi on regional developments, issues of the Muslim World and cooperation between the Iranian and Iraqi governments. The grand Ayatollahs in the meetings called for unity and solidarity among Muslims and urged them to exercise vigilance to thwart religious conflict./end
